Improving Life through Paint...
How can I improve quality of life through my artwork??? |
|
This is the question that drives my painting these days.....
I'm as completely inured in this terrible economy as every one else and one of my struggles has been my response in my personal work. One of the many ways I'm choosing to respond is to focus more on the "magic" and joys of life - to counter what is negative with how things can be looked at positively.
Currently, I’m working only from life, deliberate painted acts of resistance in a world increasingly barraged with digital images, separated from what’s real. These are reciprocal responses to understand what my subject has to say to me and with the aim of a particular color light in mind; jubilations and meditations on life in drawing and color.
I have a BFA with honors in painting from Rhode Island School of Design and have taught classes in drawing and painting, including classes at the Hyde Collection in Glens Falls, NY.
My work can currently be found on my website, JoanneHopper.com and in a wonderful gallery, Art on the Avenue, Macon, GA. My blog is my name as well, JoanneHopper.blogspot.com
Prints of my work are available in various sizes through Fine Art America: Joanne-Hopper.Fineartamerica.com
Besides being a fine artist, I earn a living as a scenic artist, having designed and painted for Universal Studios, Disney, the United Nations, Yahoo, and various performing arts centers and opera houses around the world.
My husband and I are raising and homeschooling our children in Northern New York, in the foothills of the beautiful Adirondack Mountains.
Thank you again for your time and interest -
All glory be to God!
